L’UNO presents one creation at a time. No grids, no aisles, no abundance — a single stone lit, turned, and considered until it is understood.

Fourteen stones enter the house each year. Each is given its own room.

Four hands, nine
hundred hours.

Every stage happens in one room on the Hoveniersstraat. Nothing is sent out. Nothing is hurried.

Selection
Rough is read by eye before it is read by instrument. Most is refused.
II
Cutting
Fifty-seven facets, each polished to a tolerance finer than a human hair.
III
Setting
Metal is drawn, filed and burnished by hand until the stone appears unheld.
IV
Consideration
The finished piece rests for thirty days before it is shown to anyone.
IV — The House

A room, not
a shopfront.

The house occupies the second floor of a 1911 merchant building in Antwerp. There is no window display. Guests are received one at a time, in daylight, with the stone brought to the table on linen.
